Kicks is a skunk traveling merchant who randomly visits your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons selling exclusive shoes, socks, and bags. Learn how to unlock Kicks and see all of the items he has for sale in this guide.

When Does Kicks Appear On Your Island?

Once Kicks has been unlocked as a recurring visitor, you can find him with a stall in front of Resident Services on random days of the week! After progressing far enough in the game to unlock K.K. Slider, he will only appear on weekdays.

In past versions of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Kicks would appear on your island once every single week. In the Summer Update (Version 1.3) however, the appearance of special visitors were changed and Kicks will no longer show up every week. It’s likely you’ll spot him about once every two weeks or so now.

How To Unlock Kicks

To begin finding Kicks on your island as a visitor, you must first unlock and build the Able Sisters tailor shop somewhere on the island. The Able Sisters can be built after the opening of Nook’s Cranny and purchasing items from Mabel on 3 different days. She appears on random days after Nook’s Cranny is built.

After the Able Sisters shop is fully open, Kicks will begin appearing outside of Resident Services random, taking the place of Mabel.

Can You Unlock Or Build A Kicks Shop?

A common question many players ask about Kicks is whether it’s possible to unlock and build a dedicated store building for him in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, similarly to how you can build the Able Sisters after Mabel visits your island enough times.

Unlike past games in the series like Animal Crossing: New Leaf, it’s not currently possible to build a shop for Kicks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons no matter how many times he has visited your island or items have been purchased from him. This could change in future updates scheduled for release later this year.

What Items Does Kicks Sell?

When Kicks arrives on your island in front of Resident Services, he offers a selection of exclusive items for sale that you can’t find anywhere else in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Each time Kicks visits there are three shoes, three socks, and five bags available to purchase.
